3.engage – yes it may not be twitter but you can engage with your blog
4.keep it real
5.invite ‘guest bloggers’
6.Use twitter and facebook to promote your blog
7.make time to blog – even 15 minutes a day can keep your blog updated
8.read other blogs and comment too the world of ‘blogging’ is growing
9.Add images and video
10.Enjoy

  1. Great tips as always Michelle.

    For readers, I would add to the list with a couple of others:-

    – pay great attention to your heading: make it shorter than 60 characters and interesting or valuable enough for people to want to share;
    – pay great attention to tags: use both “short-tail” and “long-tail” tags – for a great example see Michelle’s tags above. Recently, because I’ve been noticing the way tags are displayed as a separate pages in Google, I’d tried to capitalise the text use in tags so that they’re (perhaps slightly) more likely to get a click in Google
    – as a combination of points 3 and 6 above, if someone comments on your blog, try to promote the comment itself through twitter, facebook or multiple other social networks.
    – if another blogger deserves it, add them to your blogroll – you may just get a valuable link back to your blog also.

    Those are all secondary points in addition to the 10 outlined above to which I would suggest every blogger, even experienced ones, tries to pay more attention.
